A Family Affair To Remember…
With the nights closing in and the children heading back to school, it can only mean one thing... the end of summer is fast approaching and, with it, so too is the end of another cricket season.
And what better way to say “goodbye” to season 2026 than by staging the competition of all competitions... U11s & U13s Parents vs Children!
An opportunity to say thank you to all our parents for their fantastic support - and taxi services! throughout the season, this inaugural event promised to be a fun, friendly and entertaining affair...
...or so we thought!
Who knew quite how much of a competitive beast was lurking within some of our parents?!
With family pride and, more importantly, a season’s worth of bragging rights up for grabs, it’s safe to say the children weren’t the only ones taking things seriously. The parents had clearly come to play!
There was no shortage of competitive spirit, questionable technique and increasingly optimistic appeals as the evening wore on. But, as it turns out, enthusiasm alone is no substitute for the well-honed skills of our U11s and U13s.
Both junior sides eventually saw themselves over their respective finishing lines - although the parents may point to one or two questionable umpiring decisions that seemingly went against them...
Excuses, excuses! Better luck next year, parents!!
Joking aside, it was fantastic to see so many people down on The Mall, basking in the late August sunshine, enjoying a drink or two and, most importantly, getting involved in the matches themselves.
Cricket aside, that was really what the evening was all about - bringing children, parents and families together and rounding off another season in suitably enjoyable fashion.
A thoroughly entertaining and social evening... and, judging by the smiles, laughter and already-simmering parental desire for revenge, hopefully the beginning of an annual tradition too!
For now, all that remains is our
🏆 U11s & U13s Awards Ceremony 🏆
which will be held at the club on
Monday 31st August at 7.00pm.
