🏏 U11 Update
A glorious Thursday evening saw Armagh Cricket Club U11s take on Waringstown at The Mall - with the potential for another exciting game following the recent cup match between the 2 sides.
Armagh opted to bat first having won the toss and promptly posted exactly the same score as the previous encounter albeit for the loss of a further wicket - 283 for 5.
Any hopes for another tight affair were quickly dashed as Armagh elevated their bowling and fielding to restrict Waringstown to 250 for 10.
Scorecard
From a batting perspective, James Atkinson and Tom McMahon set the tone with a solid opening partnership of 21 before the ever-reliable pairing of Harry Beggs and Zach Dally continued their good form with 37 runs from their 4 overs; the team maintained a good scoring rate to ensure Armagh posted a competitive score.
From the outset, the team were keen on ensuring no repeat of the cup match and put in one of the best bowling and fielding performances from an Armagh CC U11s team in recent times.
From a bowling point of view, Tom McMahon (2 overs, 2 wickets for 4 runs) and Matilda Nicholson (2 overs, 2 wickets for 10 runs... including a tremendous caught and bowled) were the pick of the bowling attack with Isaac Villiers, James Atkinson, Charlie Russell, James Nicholson and Zach Dally all taking a wicket each.
The fielding was equally impressive - plenty of enthusiasm with James Atkinson and Zach Dally combining well to run-out one of their batters. James Atkinson, in particular, led by example... chasing down every ball and backing up his team mates where required. I’m sure this drove on others as Zach Dally took an outstanding catch behind the stumps (very rare at U11s level) only to see this surpassed by a tremendous running catch from Harry Beggs.
All in all, a thoroughly pleasing victory for the team.
Thank you to Waringstown; a great game played in the right spirit and we look forward to our next encounter.
A huge well done to the team - they worked hard for the result and should be incredibly pleased with their efforts... Long may it continue!

🏏 Senior Results Roundup
It was a full week of cricket, despite a few postponements. The 4th XI enjoyed a great week of wins, as reported in previous posts.
The 1st XI were sadly defeated on the Mall in a rearranged league game against Templepatrick on Thursday night. However, they bounced back in exceptional fashion with a superb win on Saturday against league leaders Bangor. It was the bowlers who set the stage, bowling Bangor all out for 90, with 3 wickets for Matty Wright and 4 for Skipper Hoey. We chased down the total with the loss of three wickets, Sammy Wilson and Matthew Steenson the main contributors.
On Saturday, Adam Woods’ 2nd XI faced an top of the table clash at Ward Park against table toppers Bangor III. Put in to bat, the Armagh innings was anchored by Mandrekar’s 43 and Ryan Hetherington with 21, with important contributions coming from Jack Beggs (16) and William Dougan (18). In the second innings, Armagh’s bowling and fielding put the pressure on from the beginning, and wickets fell at regular intervals. The 7th wicket partnership brought the game towards a tense finish, but the Armagh bowling attack were able to defend their total in the final over, Garry Archer taking the final wicket. Pick of the bowlers was Woods with a superb spell of 3-17 from his allotted overs, while Ballantyne chipped in with 2 wickets to cap off a pleasing team performance.
The 3rd XI sadly never got going on Sunday away to Dunmurry, as they lost by 8 wickets, with Tom Nicholson (28) providing resistance in a below par total. Onto the next game!

The weekend past was surely one of the great Saturdays for Armagh Cricket Club. The 1st, 2nd and 4th XIs all recorded victories over their Bangor CC counterparts.
Here are a few snaps from the 4th XI game as they recorded a 7 wicket win on the mall, to the delight of the home spectators.
The game featured a superb run chase, dominated by a breathtaking 146 run opening partnership between the experienced duo of Ryan McCarter and Raymond Hetherington.
There were also first senior appearances for Samad and Zach Dunne. Well done lads.

🏏 4th XI Update
An excellent 5 wicket mid week win for the 4th XI At Donaghcloney. Two very evenly balanced teams boasted some young talent with a few experienced heads - to provide an entertaining game that saw Armagh record victory with just 7 balls to spare.
Batting first, the hosts were dismissed for 117 in the final over of their allotted 20. Scott Armstrong plundered 56, but the innings centred around the left arm spin of under 13 star, Oscar Steenson, who claimed 5 wickets for 18 runs which included a hat trick, a dream for any bowler young or old. Well done Oscar!
In reply, Armagh started cautiously and at 40-3 nearing the half way point, Armagh looked to accelerate and Jack Beggs, ably supported by Oscar Steenson(19) and Josh Wilson (10 no) seen the visitors home in the penultimate over. Beggs, after an unusually slow start, went onto record an excellent 50 not out, another fine display from the young wicket keeper batsman.
All in all a good performance from the 4th XI who have not been able to play much cricket this season due to enforced rearrangements. Hopefully their season will kick off with 4 matches planned over the next 10 days.

🏏 3rd XI Update
A fantastic Sunday on the mall this weekend as the 3rd XI, recorded 2 back to back wins over Dundrum 2nd XI.
In the first game, Armagh restricted the visitors to 93-7, the Wilson trio of Keith, Matthew and Josh claimed two wickets each and Josh Stoops one wicket as runs were hard to accumulate.
In reply Armagh rattled the runs off in only 9.2 overs as Adam Wilson struck 24 and Noah Archer a career best 49 not out. The first of 2 emphatic wins.
The second game saw Dundrum bat in a more fluent fashion as they posted 163-5 as Armagh rotated their line up. Josh Wilson again impressed with the ball taking 4 for 33 with Josh Stoops the other wicket taker.
Armagh were batting second again and continued to bat with great gusto. After having just missed a half century in the first match Noah Archer set the record straight as he took another shine to the Dundrum attack plundering 85 not out in only 43 balls. His innings included 10 boundaries and 4 towering “6’s”. Two career best scores in the one day. A rare occasion indeed. Well batted Noah!

🏏 U13s Update
Friday saw another glorious evening with Armagh Cricket Club U13s travelling up the M1 to take on Lisburn at Friends School in the hope of continuing their unbeaten run.
Having lost the toss, Armagh were asked to bat and promptly picked up where they left off in their previous match… led by Oscar Steenson (51 retired out) and ably supported by Will Steenson (15) and Jack Eakin (13), Armagh scored 149 for 4.
In response, Armagh restricted Lisburn to 131 for 4 with a wicket each for Dylan Coppard, Tom Kindred, Jack Eakin and Oscar Steenson.
Whilst the performance didn’t quite match the heights of the previous game, some tight bowling during the latter stages of Lisburn’s innings ensured the win.
A thoroughly satisfying result and extremely pleasing to see the team’s efforts to get over the line.
Thank you to all the U13s parents watching this evening’s game… I’m sure it’s your presence which spurs on the team and your support is greatly appreciated.
Well played to Lisburn… a tight game which either team could have won - we look forward to our next encounter.
We now have a break before our next U13s fixture and so, all that’s left to say is… have a great weekend everybody!

🏏 U13s Update
It was Armagh Cricket Club U13s' turn to take centre stage as they took on a strong Lurgan side on The Mall yesterday evening; in glorious sunshine, the U13s were hopeful in continuing their unbeaten season.
Winning the toss, Armagh elected to bat first and produced a composed batting display, posting an impressive 172-4 from their 20 overs against a decent bowling attack.
Oscar Steenson (51 retired out) and Dylan Coppard (27no) led the way with valuable contributions from Will Steenson (18) and Tom Kindred (14).
A solid performance in the field was required to ensure Lurgan had an uphill battle to overcome the first innings score…..and the team certainly delivered on that front.
With ball in hand, Tom Kindred (3 for 9) and Dylan Coppard (1 for 8 ) set the tone in the opening overs by reducing Lurgan to 17 for 4; with the damage done to the opposition’s batting line-up, the rest of the bowlers were able to maintain similar pressure with Will Steenson (2 for 6), Larkin Polack (2 for 11) and Jack Eakin (1 for 0) picking up wickets; adding to the impressive bowling performance was some sharp fielding (including a fantastic catch taken by Harry Halligan along with Harry McMahon and Will Steenson combining for a superb runout), all of which culminated in a comprehensive victory as Lurgan were bowled out for 57.
An excellent all-round team performance and the team should be very pleased with the efforts - definitely up there as one of the best junior performances I’ve seen in recent years.
Well done to both teams for a competitive game played in great spirit, and thank you to Lurgan for making the trip to The Mall.
Next up for the U13s are Lisburn (Away) this evening - all support welcome

🏏 U15s Upadate
Congratulations to our U15 team who had a fantastic victory over Lurgan on Tuesday night.
Batting first, Armagh made a competitive 124-4 in their 20 overs. It did not start well as the hosts were 5 for 2 after 2 overs. However Daniel Beggs(28) and Skipper Charlie Abbott had other ideas, both lads batted in a very mature fashion and scored in a robust manner against a good Lurgan bowling attack.
Charlie went on to score his first half century and retired at 52 not out as per the competition rules. A proud moment for any cricketer as the photo highlights.
In reply Armagh restricted Lurgan to 93-7 in their allotted 20 overs. Daniel Beggs and Oscar Steenson took 2 wickets each, Dylan Coppard and Charlie Abbott claimed one as did Harry Halligan who impressed on his under 15 debut. A great win for the young lads.
Armagh U15: 124-4 ( C Abbott 52 retired not out, D Beggs 28)
Lurgan U15: 93-7 (O Steenson 2-0, D Beggs 2-16, C Abbott 1-3, H Halligan 1-5, D Coppard 1-18)

🏏 U11s Update
Our U11s followed up their recent cup win with another victory, this time in the league, against newcomers Victoria.
Having won the toss, Victoria posted 219 for 14 before Armagh responded with 350 for 4, securing a very good win.
All players contributed to the victory with noteworthy callouts to:
Bowling:
Harry Beggs: 2 overs 3 wickets for 3 runs
Isaac Villiers: 2 overs 2 wickets for 9 runs
Tom McMahon: 2 overs 3 wickets for 2 runs
Toby Jones: 2 overs 1 wicket for 6 runs
James Atkinson: 2 overs 2 for 8 runs
Wicket on debut for Matilda Nicholson
Fielding:
Direct hit runout - Isaac Villiers
Batting:
Harry Beggs & Zach Dally - Partnership of 49
Isaac Villiers & Matilda Nicholson - Partnership of 33
Joshua Frazer & James Nicholson - Partnership of 28
Whilst it’s always great to see your team win, what was most pleasing wasn’t the runs scored or wickets taken, but the way the team approached the game. Knowing we were the more developed side, our players showed respect, humility, and sportsmanship throughout - there were plenty of moments where our players applauded good shots from opposition batters and encouraged their effort; our U11s are an absolute credit to themselves.
This was Victoria’s first year in the U11 Development League and watching them take the field was a stark reminder of where we started our own journey of rebuilding a junior section and how far we’ve come.
Building from a junior section from the ground up, developing skills, creating a specific kind of culture….all in the hope that whatever is built will serve the club for years to come……no easy task and so it was incredibly heart warming to see another club starting the same journey.....we wish them every success.
For now, thank you to Victoria for hosting us and well done to both teams for playing the game in the right spirit.

🏏 U11 Update
Monday evening saw the U11s take on Waringstown at The Lawn in the hope of extending their cup run and in a tightly contested affair, Armagh came out on top with a 7 run victory.
Batting first, Armagh posted 283 for 4 with Waringstown scoring 276 for 7.
With the victory pendulum swinging both ways, the last few overs proved to be the turning point as Armagh snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
A solid batting performance (with Tom McMahon and Charlie Russell followed by Harry Beggs and Zach Dally leading the way with partnerships of 22 and 24 respectively) was underpinned by some decent bowling and fielding.
From a bowling perspective, Isaac Villiers (2 overs, 1 wicket for 5 runs) and Charlie Russell (2 overs, 2 wickets for 7 runs) were the pick of bowling attacked and Charlie Russell (taking a fine caught and bowled), Matthew Villiers (taking a tremendous catch at mid-off) and the ever reliable Zach Dally (nabbing a stumping too) setting the example in the field.
Despite a minor blip where 25 runs were scored in 3 overs, putting Waringstown ahead at the end of the 17th over, tight bowling from Liam Bassi (1 wicket for 6 runs), James Atkinson (1 wicket for 6 runs) and Tom McMahon (1 wicker for no runs) saw Armagh turn it around to ensure victory.
Thank you to Waringstown for hosting us and a thoroughly entertaining game……we look forward to a rematch in next week’s league match.
A huge well done to the team - they worked hard for the result and should be incredibly pleased with their efforts.....all superbly captured by Mark Dally.
Next match sees our U11s away to Victoria tomorrow, Wednesday 24th June - where hopefully, we can continue with our winning ways

🏏 Weekend Senior Results Roundup
Just the two senior results from the weekend, as the 2nd XI and 3rd XI managed to get their cup games in after Friday evening’s deluge.
The 2nd XI advanced to the next round of the cup, after doing the hard work with the ball, but nearly unravelling in what should have been a straightforward chase. It was Josh Stoops and Will Mann who provided the heroics, winning off the penultimate ball of the game, to the rapturous delight of a great home support.
The 3rd XI were sadly beaten on the back pitch, but not after an excellent effort with bat and ball, with plenty of encouraging performances all round, again receiving much support and backing from the CC faithful.
Thanks to all who came and supported both teams, and donated kindly to the NI Air Ambulance charity.

🏏 U15s Update
An excellent win for the Armagh U15 side last night at Cregagh in the Graham Cup first round. This was the third attempt to play the game after the previous two fell foul of the weather.
Batting first, the hosts scored 123 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. Armagh stuck to the task well with a tidy bowling and fielding display. Jack Eakin led the way taking 2 wickets whilst Daniel Beggs, Oscar Steenson and Larkin Polack took one each.
The chase was always very much a strong possibility and the top order must take great credit for the way they set about obtaining the necessary runs. Oscar Steenson, provided a batting master class, retiring on 50 not out (as per the competition rules), his innings included 10 sublime boundaries in 31 balls faced, and Daniel Beggs who made an impressive 22 not out.
Skipper Matthew Kerr, must have been in a rush up the M1 as he plundered a colossal 41 not out in only 20 balls that included 5 towering “6’s” to seal victory. All in all a great display by a team who bounced back so well after defeat at the hands of Waringstown only 7 days earlier.
Special thanks to Cregagh Cricket Club for hosting the game and their patience after two previous failed attempts. The under 15’s will progress to the next round and a home tie with Holywood on a date yet to be confirmed.
Cregagh: 123-5 ( L Duckett 34, O McMillan 23, J Eakin 2-7, L Polack 1-10, D Beggs 1-12, O Steenson 1-23)
Armagh: 129-1 (O Steenson 50 retired not out, M Kerr 41no, D Beggs 22no)
Result: Armagh won by 9 wickets.

🏏 U13s Update
The U13s looked to continue their unbeaten start to the season with a home league match vs Donacloney Mill. In a well spirited match, Armagh CC came out on top with a 88 run victory.
Having won the toss, Armagh posted 175 for 1 with Donacloney Mill scoring 87 all out in response.
Armagh’s effort was underpinned by Oscar and William Steenson, both scoring 35 (retired out) before allowing opportunities for Tom Kindred (17), Will Morton (15 retired out), Jack Eakin (15 retired out), Zach Dally (15 not out) and Charlie Dougan (5 not out) to play freely and progress the score.
A tidy effort with the bat with some great hitting and purposeful running between the wickets helping us to set a decent score (highest U13s score in recent times).
In response, we bowled and fielded very well; Harry McMahon (who took the keeping gloves for the very first time), Will Morton (who almost took a “once in a lifetime” catch), Tom Kindred (with an excellent, over the shoulder catch) and Charlie Dougan (with a direct hit run-out) set the tone in the field to back-up some excellent bowling - on this occasion, Harry Halligan (3 overs, 3 wickets for 10 runs) and Harry Beggs (3 overs, 2 wickets for 10 runs) stood out however, in truth, all those who bowled played an equal part in the victory - on another day, the wickets may well have gone to others.
We are incredibly fortunate to have such a talented bunch of U13s for this season... suffice to say, it is a challenge to provide opportunities for all to contribute... that said, the unity of this team also suggests that this group of boys are happy to celebrate each other’s successes as well as their own... and that was clear for all to see in today’s match.
Long may it continue.
Unfortunately, no team pic this evening... and indeed, no NVPlay scorecard - we’ll try to get that sorted for the next match... Saintfield at home in the cup this Friday, 19th June... all support welcome!!
Until then, thank you to Donaghcloney for the match and we wish them the very best for the rest of the season!

🏏 2nd XI Update
Here’s a couple of snaps from the second XI’s victory over Carrick Seconds on Saturday at the mall. A great performance and the stand in skipper had a blast taking 5 wickets for 9 runs, as well as 2 catches, one of which was quoted as “one of the great catches on the front pitch!” Well done to the second XI and Phil Rogers on receiving the Fly Boy Pizza Man of the Match Award…

🏏 Weekend Results Round-up
It was a winning weekend for the CC as we recorded 3 wins across the board.
The 5ths enjoyed a super win on Friday night (see previous post).
At Saintfield, the 1st XI were in trouble away at 32-5 before some superb resistance from Liebenberg (74) and Harry Boyd (74) brought us to a competitive total. From there, Matty Wilson, Liebenberg and Mackey did the damage with the ball to ensure the win.
On the Mall, a young 2nd XI side under the experienced leadership of Phil Rodgers got off to a good start against Carrickfergus through an excellent 44 from Jack Beggs. However, they were made to work hard for the rest of the innings as Carrick fought back, with Josh Wilson (23) providing some much needed runs. Carrick got off to a strong start putting on 52 for the first wicket in 9 overs. Yet, Armagh didn’t let their heads drop, with a good attitude in the field paying off as Garry Archer (3-12) made the all-important breakthrough. Then it was cometh the hour, cometh the man, as Phil Rodgers swung the game in Armagh’s favour with 5-9 from his allotted overs, coupled with two catches (one of which was a superb diving effort at point), as Carrick were eventually all out for 84. A pleasing win for the 2nds, before their cup game on Saturday.

🏏 5th XI Update
A fantastic win for Raymond Hetherington’s 5th XI on Friday evening, with a hard fought 26 run victory in a low scoring thriller at Lurgan. Defending only 99 runs the Armagh Cricket Club all star 5’s bowled the hosts out for 73. Josh Stoops was the star of the show claiming his first 5 wicket haul taking 5-13, ably supported by young opening bowler Daniel Beggs who took 3 wickets. An excellent mixture of youth and experience in the development league 11c. Well done everyone!

🏏 U11s Update
Following on from the disappointment of Monday evening’s match, our U11s had another opportunity to register their first league win of the season......and they certainly took it, completing a thoroughly entertaining 99 run victory.
Having won the toss, Armagh Cricket Club opted to bowl restricting, Donacloney Mill Cricket Club to 207 for 16; in reply, the U11s scored 306 for 5.
Whilst it was a fantastic, all round performance with excellent bowling (11 bowled wickets), sharp wicketkeeping & fielding (1 x stumping and 4 x run outs) and solid batting (partnerships of 15, 16, 19, 46 and 10), it was the camaraderie which really caught the eye - celebrating each other’s successes as though their own.....the U11s really are a “team”.
Special mention to:
Harry Beggs and Zach Dally for their 46 run partnership.
Harry Beggs, Isaac Villiers, Joshua Frazer, Jack Mandrekar and Zach Dally for each taking 2 wickets.
Zach Dally for his impeccable glove work behind the stumps (especially impressive when deliveries were seaming on an artificial wicket!!)
Thank you to Donacloney Mill Cricket Club for hosting us and good luck for the rest of the season.
Great to get back to winning ways and we look forward to our next match against Victoria.

🏏 U11s Update
Armagh Cricket Club U11s continued their season with a home league match again Lurgan on Monday evening - with the sun unexpectedly making an appearance, our hopes were equally bright in continuing our winning start to the season......however, against an impressive opposition, the team ended up on the wrong side of the result.
With Lurgan posting 328 for 6, Armagh finished on 204 for 12
Despite the result, it was a good day for the majority of our players, with 5 of the team playing their first cricket match.....and it’s safe to say the result didn’t dampen the experience.
There were plenty of positives – great effort with the ball and in the field.....brave batting, and most importantly, the whole game was played with an abundance of enthusiasm.
Special mentions must go to:
Charlie Russell for taking 2 wickets in his 2 overs.
James Nicholson for taking his 1st wicket for the team.
Hard luck to our U11s - wasn’t our day and that was mainly down to how well the opposition played - well done to Lurgan and look forward to our next encounter.
Next match sees our U11s away to Donaghcloney on Thursday 11th June - hopefully, we can get back to winning ways…

🏏 U13s Update
With Armagh Cricket Club U13s due to play Derriaghy at home, yesterday’s forecast introduced doubts as to whether the fixture would go ahead and to be honest, today’s forecast was no clearer with the weather flip flopping more than a politician.
Thankfully, conditions improved enough for the game to begin with players, supporters and coaches all happy to see some cricket being played.
Unfortunately, the match was abandoned 6 overs into the 2nd innings - continuous rain and a wet outfield ulitmately judged unfit for cricket but ideal for ducks.
Captain Oscar Steenson won the toss and elected to bowl with Armagh Cricket Club restricting Derriaghy to 121 for 6; some way short of the bowling display from the preceeding 2 matches, Armagh still bowled with threatening accuracy and, on another day, could have bowled out the opposition for less.
A tight opening spell from Dylan Coppard (3 overs 1 wicket for 8 runs) and Tom Kindred (3 overs no wickets for 9 runs) set the benchmark with Oscar Steenson (3 overs 1 for 11), William Steenson (3 overs 1 for 14), Larkin Polack (3 overs 1 for 23) and Jacob Wilson (3 overs 2 for 30) suitably backing them up.
In reply, Oscar (19no) and Jack (3no) set us on our way with an unbroken 43 before the rain came in... unfortunately, an opportunity lost to make it 3 wins out of 3.
For now, we wait on whether we will have another opportunity to play Derriaghy to a conclusion.
Our U13s keep on improving and there’s plenty of excitement around how they will perform in the next game... hopefully, the weather improves soon to see how they get on.
Thank you to Derriaghy for coming down and making this a thoroughly entertaining game... and a special thank you to all to supporters who stuck it out to cheer us on until the end.

🏏 Congratulations
During the month of May two of Armagh Cricket Club’s stalwarts accumulated some excellent statistics in run scoring for the 1st XI.
Vice Captain, and opening batsman, Samuel Wilson, chalked up 3,000 runs during the Irish National Cup game versus Ballyspallen at the mall. Samuel has played around 140 games for the firsts and in cricketing terms that’s a quick route to 3,000.
Also in May, veteran all rounder, Harry Doyle hit the 3,000 run mark, another wonderful milestone given the fact he has batted in many positions over the years. Harry has 273 appearances and has also taken a very impressive 291 wickets.
Club President Keith Wilson was on hand to congratulate both players saying:
“Huge congratulations to both Samuel and Harry on reaching their milestones, hopefully they continue to play for many more seasons and add countless more runs to their respective tallies. Not only are they two key players in the first XI, they are very much involved in our excellent youth coaching programmes; Harry with power cricket on Monday evenings and Samuel also with power cricket and with the hugely popular annual summer scheme which runs during the months of July and August. In fact both guys are at the forefront of all club activities, so it’s very fitting they are recognised for their ability and efforts on the pitch!”

🏏 U11s Update
Armagh Cricket Club‘s U11s finally got their season underway with a home cup match against Instonians B... and what a way to start the season!!
Against a strong opposition, a brilliant team performance saw our U11s come out on top after a closely fought contest.
After losing the toss and being put into bat, Armagh Cricket Club posted 243 for 10, before restricting the visitors to 239 for 11.
Whilst both sides bowled tightly and offered very few scoring opportunities, our fielding proved to be the ultimate difference with two excellent catches and three run outs - reward for all their hard work put into recent fielding and catching sessions.
With the bat, Harry Beggs and Zach Dally helped drive the innings forward with three boundaries between them, ably supported by the rest of the batters who contributed with positive running and some excellent shots...
...with the ball, the following were standout performers...
Tom McMahon – 2 overs, 2 wickets for 6 runs
Toby Jones – 2 overs, 2 wickets for 4 runs
Zach Dally – 2 overs, 1 wicket for 0 runs
Harry Beggs – 2 overs, 1 wicket for 5 runs
...and in the field, Harry Beggs and Jack Mandrekar each taking a catch with Zach Dally at the centre of 3 runouts.
A fantastic all-round effort from the entire team and a well-deserved cup victory.
Thank you to Instonians B for what was a throughly entertaining match.
Congratulations to all involved... and we look forward to the next round!

🏏 U13s Update
Armagh Cricket Club U13s travelled to The Lawn for their first league game of the season against a well drilled Waringstown team.
In picturesque surroundings and on a cloudless, sunny evening, our U13s put in a polished, all-round performance to record an 8 wicket win.
Having won the toss, Armagh opted to field and were excellent from the very first ball (with Dylan Coppard clean bowling their opener); the bowlers showed great discipline to hit the right areas and keep the pressure on throughout the innings; with the wickets shared around and 2 x runouts, Waringstown CC finished on 88 for 8.
Chasing the target down, the batting performance was calm and accomplished with Oscar Steenson (49) and Larkin Polack (21no) putting on 69 for the 2nd wicket, rotating the strike well and controlling the innings to get over the line comfortably.
A really pleasing team performance.
It’s rare to come away with a victory when playing Waringstown and so it’s great to see the team really enjoying this victory.
Well played to Waringstown CC and thank you for hosting us.

We are delighted to announce the details of the Armagh Cricket Club 2026 Summer Scheme for this season.
As the poster below says, the scheme will run 3 days per week for 3 weeks commencing on Tuesday 21st July 2026. It is open to all boys and girls aged between 7 & 16. Times each day are 10.00am to 1.00pm.
The Summer Scheme has proved very popular and successful for a number of seasons, and hopefully as many as possible will be able to attend from previous years. Of course we will be delighted to see any new faces who haven’t attended before and you will be made very welcome.
The scheme will be led by the current 1st XI vice captain and all rounder Samuel Wilson, a player in a rich vein of form in recent seasons. He has also spent the last two winters in Australia coaching and playing the game and is very excited at delivering and developing skills this summer.
Also leading will be our overseas South African player and coach Luan Liebenberg, who has returned to Armagh for a second season after his very successful debut season in 2025.
Due to its popularity from other years please contact Samuel, on the number displayed on the poster as soon as possible to register your child’s interest.

🏏 U13s Update
A winning start to the season on a cold and damp evening in Lisburn.
Having won the toss and electing to field, the boys stuck brilliantly to their task, with tight bowling and enthusiastic fielding restricting Lisburn B to 87-5.
Oscar Steenson (2 for 23) and Dylan Coppard (2 for 7) were the main wicket takers while Oscar also produced an impressive direct hit run out to cap a fine all-round performance in the field.
Armagh Cricket Club chased down the target inside 10 overs thanks to a rapid opening partnership of 57 from 6 overs between Oscar Steenson (25no) and William Morton (20), with William the main aggressor in a superb attacking batting display
Despite a brief blip in the chase where 3 wickets fell in quick succession (all part of a Lisburn B hat-trick, which certainly don’t come around too often.....congratulations to the young bowler on their achievement), William Steenson (18no) then joined his brother at the crease to help see the team home and close out the victory.
A solid start to the season made possible by an excellent allround team performance.....and whilst the above suggest a few main contributors to the result, every player contributed to the victory, with a real team effort on display throughout the evening.
See “Tonight’s Result” below for Scorecard ↓
Thank you to Lisburn for hosting us and we wish you all the best for the rest of the season.

🏏 3rd XI Report
The Armagh Cricket Club 3rd XI pictured after an excellent run chase at the mall on Saturday last against Derriaghy 3’s.
Batting first, the visitors posted a competitive 143 in 20 overs. Armagh’s young bowlers Josh Wilson, Daniel Beggs and Oscar Steenson all claimed 2 wickets each, bowling with great control, between the persistent rain showers.
Armagh had few problems chasing down the score with an incredible 6 overs to spare.
The innings stared at a frenetic pace with Adam Wilson blasting a quick fire 49, though it was Jack Beggs who stole the show, scoring his maiden senior half century, 51 not out, off only 31 balls including 5 towering “6’s”. Well batted Jack!

Raymond Hetherington’s 5th XI enjoyed a win on Friday night against Waringstown. Special congratulations to Dean and Dylan Coppard who started their first game of senior cricket together, with Dylan capturing his first senior wicket on the night too - well done men!
On Saturday Adam Woods’ 2nd XI beat Instonians on the road. Andy Hoey (50) was ably supported by Mandrekar (40) and Boyd (24) as Armagh scored 184. Armagh were able to defend that total, with Ballantyne (4-38) and Stoops (3-26) capping a great all-round bowling display.
Keith Wilson’s 3rd XI also enjoyed a great win on the back pitch on Saturday (see previous post). Well done all!

🏏 3rd XI
Here’s a couple of photos from the Armagh Cricket Club 3rd XI’s emphatic win on Saturday at the mall. Chasing 156 to win Armagh looked second favourites to win at 81-6. However Noah Archer and Ashley Dilbert had other ideas smashing a fantastic partnership of 78 in less than 6 overs to ensure victory. Noah finished on 45 not out and Ashley undefeated on 36 to record one of the great run chases on the back pitch. Well batted lads and also to the young bowling attack of Josh Wilson, Daniel Beggs and Oscar Steenson, on his senior debut, who bowled fantastically to restrict Templepatrick thirds.

🏏 Victorious 2nd XI
Our victorious 2nd XI defeated Woodvale 4th XI at Ballygomartin Road yesterday. A tense game that went right to the final over as Armagh ran out victors by the small margin of 8 runs.
Armagh posted 190-8 in their allotted 30 overs, thanks to an excellent 78 from Ami Mandrekar, assisted by Harry Boyd (21), Callum Gibson (20) and Andy Hoey (16). After a mid innings mini collapse Adam Woods and Matthew Wilson added, what proved, a vital 25 for the ninth wicket to give the visitors a chance at least.
Woodvale started well against some slightly wayward bowling and always had wickets in hand in their run chase, however some excellent tight bowling at the end by Garry Archer and Phil Rogers proved too much for the hosts as they fell just short. Armagh’s catching was also a major difference holding some fantastic chances in the deep as the innings drew to a close. Well done to the 2nd XI in a great start to their Junior 4 campaign.
